Compliance with the law is the responsibility of every member of the organization. Our nation was founded based on the rule of law. Non-compliance can result in loss of the organization's 501c3 status, civil action against individual board members and in some cases criminal penalties. These are at the federal, state, and in some cases county and municipal levels of government. If the organization has international members or conducts business Internationally, then the laws of that country or international law may apply.

 

Failure to comply with the organization's/chapter's constitution & bylaws could result in a trial and possibly expulsion, suspension or other penalties.
